Blind River Tax Rate Drops 10%

“Blind River councillors have approved a reduction in municipal tax rates by 10% for 2009. Whether actual tax bills will go up or down will depend on what happened to each individual property assessment during the reassessment process that culminated last year.

Blind River assessments went up, on average, 38%, according to the town’s chief administrator. Phased in over four years, starting this year, this means the average 2009 assessment will be about nine per cent higher than in 2008. So, as long as your property assessment didn’t go up more than 40%, your tax bill won’t either.”
